TranFX’s fourth album in as many years, has them sounding somewhere between Primal Scream and The Jacobites, complete with breaks and unlicensed sampling. After nearly 7 years of being a band, TransFX is releasing records faster and faster. With little internet presence, and an ever-changing sound, TransFX has managed to stay under the radar, creating a wealth of material waiting to be heard.
Gaslit follows an arc of highs and lows from beginning to end. The recording features many guest musicians including Milk Music’s Alex Coxen, Abby Dahlquist of Pinkos, Shannen Hansen of Hysterics, and long time contributor/producer, Dave Harvey of Nudity. The band changes with every release, but somehow keeps a common thread throughout, and Gaslit is no exception. Both a bold shift in sound, as well as a build off previous releases, the ethos of the record is manic and celebratory.
